Lynd Water
System Project
The City of Lynd, Minnesota, faced a dilemma. The public water supply for the community was not providing a sufficient quantity and the water quality had gotten worse. But drilling new wells and building a new water tower was too expensive.
Development Services, Inc. was able to help.
By combining loan funds from USDA Rural Development and a $273,000 Small Cities Development Grant, DSI coordinated a new approach to water service in Lynd.
Instead of the City undertaking the cost of these water improvements all on their own, it was possible for Lynd to be included in an expansion phase of the Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water System. Now the community receives a plentiful supply of good quality water. Water storage capacity has also been greatly expanded by a new ground storage reservoir that is shared between the City and the Rural Water System.
